Finances as a Mirror

Jan 11, 2026    Jonathan Redekop

In this teaching, we're taught that finances are not only a practical issue, but act as a spiritual mirror that reveals what we truly believe about God, the world, and ourselves. God does not need our money, but He deeply desires our hearts, because where our treasure goes, our trust and affection follow. Our financial habits expose whether we see God as trustworthy, generous, and good, or distant, demanding, and unreliable. In a world marked by economic instability, corruption, and broken systems, many people feel anxious and uncertain, yet Scripture consistently declares that God remains sovereign over heaven and earth (Psalm 89: 9-17). His throne is founded on righteousness and justice, and access to Him is always through His love and faithfulness.

Jon challenges us to reject distorted views of God formed by human failure and instead anchor our faith in His unchanging character. He reminds us that God did not merely teach about His goodness, but demonstrated it in power through Jesus, who lived among us and revealed the abundance of the Father and His authority over Hell. Jesus’ life shows us that God’s kingdom has power over lack, fear, and limitation. We, as believers are therefore called to settle these truths in our hearts, trust God’s nature, and expect His activity in our lives. Finally, Jesus empowers us to become visible signs and active conduits of God’s blessing, allowing His goodness to flow through us to meet the needs of others.
